Founded by the Sisters of St Joseph in 1923, St Joseph’s Catholic Primary School has developed a strong tradition in the Orbost community guided by the Gospel values of respect, compassion, courage, and unity.
The school celebrated its 100 years in 2023 bringing past and current staff, students, families and friends together to reflect on the school’s rich history and the way it has shaped so many lives over many years.
The school has a strong community learning program and works with organisations such as Moogji, Landcare, and Lakes Complete Health to enhance students’ learning experiences.
A thriving kitchen garden and a unique Indigenous edible garden with a yarning circle provide stimulating outdoor learning areas.
As a Catholic school, St Joseph’s calls on all to act with compassion and empathy, to respect and care for the world and those most vulnerable. The school demonstrates this through its association with Caritas Australia raising money annually for Project Compassion to assist people in need in Australia and overseas.
